Music Review-----CHANGED - Rascal Flatts

I have been an enormous fan of Rascal Flatts since they started many years ago.  The moment I heard the voice of Gary Levox, I knew I was listening to a band that was going to change the face of country music.  In fact, I credit Rascal Flatts for opening my ears to country music for the first time.  After falling in love with this group, I started paying attention and suddenly more CD's of this flavor started appearing in my collection.  Although not a fan of the "old school" country that has more twang than substance, artists like Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Wynonna, Lady Antebellum, and of course Rascal Flatts have certainly broadened my horizons.  I find the voice of Gary Levox hypnotic.  It is effortless in it's range and emotion.  CHANGED is their 9th Studio Album and it sounds like the band has entered a new period in their career.  This is a highly charged emotional album filled with a maturity that hasn't been missed in their previous CD's, but seems especially highlighted on this one.  There isn't a weak album in their past, but there is something incredibly special about this one and it is my absolute favorite one to date.  The opening song sets the tone with an incredible song about faith and willingness to be CHANGED.  This leads into the second track which is BANJOS, a true standout.  I was incredibly moved by the song LET IT HURT, which has the message of allowing yourself to feel the pain if you have any hope of moving forward.  Very powerful song.  The album ends with the terrific A LITTLE HOME, which just made me smile.  If you have never given Rascal Flatts a try, this is the CD to do it with.  And if you like what you hear, get their Greatest Hits CD and you'll be all caught up.  "I hit my knees, now here I stand.  There I was, now here I am....Changed".
